Frame Relay

In conjunction with Energis, altoHiway introduce FrameConnect - a fully managed national and international frame relay service, designed to link your new and legacy computer and data networks in remote or independent business sites into one single highly flexible network.

Freeing you from networks built from a mesh of leased lines, FrameConnect delivers exceptionally high quality LAN (Local Area Network) based applications across your company, rapidly, efficiently and securely. And it enables you to make substantial savings on your communication, capital and operational costs. In addition, it's based on advanced frame relay technology conforming to international standards, linked into CellConnect, our national ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) service. As a result it can handle the volume of data you need now from access speeds of 64 Kbit/s. It can be swiftly and easily reconfigured to speeds of up to 2 Mbit/s to meet your evolving needs in the UK and overseas. Or, as and when you need still higher access speeds and more flexible bandwidth, it offers easy migration to our full ATM service.

Your business benefits...

FrameConnect saves you money
FrameConnect is a lower cost alternative to leased lines in the UK and overseas offering flexible configuration. Your communications costs are reduced - pricing isn't related to the distance between sites. Your operational costs are reduced - the service is fully managed.

Your capital costs are reduced - you can link legacy and new networks and all common computer network types can be accommodated.

FrameConnect delivers competitive advantage
It allows a high quality transfer of data swiftly, reliably and securely. You can install it at a level that meets your current business multimedia needs with the knowledge that you can swiftly upgrade it to match your future applications, as and when you need.
  • it's available at access speeds from 64 kbit/s to 2 Mbit/s
  • you can increase bandwidth between sites in hours

  • new technologies are easily accommodated.
FrameConnect is truly international
It offers service to 147 destinations worldwide.

Service details

How it works FrameConnect offers service to 147 destinations worldwide using standards-compliant frame relay technology that is widely supported by customer equipment manufacturers. Service provision is software configured on Energis' national Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) network, allowing access speeds to be reconfigured within hours. All common LAN and legacy protocols, including X.25 and IBM applications, are transparently carried.

FrameConnect and the ATM service CellConnect can be combined into a single network infrastructure to give a wide spread of access speeds from 64 kbit/s up to 155 Mbit/s. Frame relay sites can be upgraded to ATM for greater access capacity on demand.
